These ironstone mini treasures with the copper lustre of a leaf and banded rim are from the Tea Leaf pattern collection. The name came from a superstition that it was lucky if a whole tea leaf unfolded at the bottom of your cup. Frog Hollow vintage decor is offering a mixed lot of 4 butter pats and 1 small dish. Each butter pat is slightly different and with a different maker's mark. Two are chunkier and on the thicker side- one is Alfred Meakin and the other has no mark. The third round shaped pat is much thinner and has no mark other than the paint mark. The fourth pat is hexagonal shaped, thinner and has an imprinted mark but I can't make it out. It also has some staining on the front. All four of the butter pats have no chips or cracks. Three of the four do have crazing.

The small hexagonal shaped dish is marked Wm Adams & Sons. It has no chips, cracks, crazing or stains. All 5 of these minis are being sold together. Details are-

  • 3" butter pat- Royal Ironstone China Alfred Meakin, England
  • 3" butter pat- ironstone, no maker's mark
  • 2 3/4" butter pat- no maker's mark other than a paint dot
  • 3" hexagon shaped butter pat- imprinted mark that is hard to distinguish with a faded paint dot
  • hexagon shaped dish w/o lid- 3" x 2" Wm Adams & Sons, England, Micratex

The majority of the items used for the vignettes are antiques or thrift store finds and not reproductions. Ironstone dishes and other antiques have the built in character of crazing, minor chips, browning and other signs of use through the years. This authentic look of age and wear all lends itself to the romance of french country or the comfort of farmhouse bringing character and charm to your home.
